1. Vertical cable manager
  • Route MPO trunk cables along dedicated vertical managers at rack sides
  • Secure every 300–600 mm with hook-and-loop — never zip ties
  • Minimum bend radius: ≥40 mm for MPO, ≥25 mm for LC
2. Horizontal cable manager
  • Install 0.5U H-managers between each MPO panel row
  • Use D-rings to enforce minimum bend radius
  • Never allow cables to drape over panel faces or ports
3. Patch cord length control
  • 0.5 m — within same panel (adjacent port)
  • 1 m — within same rack
  • 3 m — cross-rack horizontal run
  • Never force-coil excess — damages fiber
4. Blank panels & airflow
  • Fill all empty 1U positions with blanks
  • Leave 1U clear above/below MPO panels as work zone
  • Maintains front-to-back airflow across all equipment
5. Label everything
  • Unique circuit ID on every trunk cable
  • Polarity type (A/B/C) clearly marked
  • Fiber count & mode (OM4, OS2) at both ends
  • Source and destination panels labeled
6. Dust cap discipline
  • Cap all unmated MPO and LC ports immediately
  • One contaminated ferrule degrades all 12 fibers simultaneously
  • Inspect with fiber scope before every mating
